Just a few weeks ago, R&S Logistics got to witness the impact the McNabb Center has on countless families and needy children across the East Tennessee area.
In preparation for the holiday gift giving, the McNabb Center reached out a few months prior about some warehousing space for some toys. We heard about the need, and we were happy to provide space for these toys.
The toys had continued to ship in on bulky pallets, and they were ready for the McNabb team in Knoxville to sort and organize them when the day came.
Some time later, we walked into our warehouse, and Christmas had arrived with the McNabb team. Holiday music was playing. Each team member had on festive colors and donned a Christmas headband, necklace, or lights. They had signs, checklists, and bags for all the toys. Donations were provided very generously by Larson Jay, Knox County Commissioner. His generosity provided 26 pallets of various toys, which was almost 12,000 toys in total. This went directly to McNabb’s Dear Santa program.
For those who don’t know, the McNabb Center is the region’s leading nonprofit provider of mental health, substance use, social and victim services. By focusing on an individual’s “Well Mind, Well Being,” they provide a quality and compassionate approach to care from infancy through adulthood.
This Dear Santa program will then provide toys to kids who may come in for social services potentially in-between Thanksgiving and Christmas. They may stop in at the McNabb center or be brought there, and they may need a toy to remind them they’re cared for, loved, and seen.
All we did was provide warehousing and 3PL service. It’s amazing to think about the difference shipments and pallets can make in benefitting and blessing other people. We’re so grateful we got to be a small part of what McNabb is doing for this community and region.
